FOCUS meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:20-11:30am at Garland. This intergenerational group meets during the school year, often doing a DVD Bible-based or thematic study. Childcare for babies through Pre-Kindergarten is offered on a donation basis. In the Fall, moms of young children are also invited to attend the Mom’s Class during this time.
UnFOCUSED lovingly named themselves as a contrast to the Tuesday morning group. They meet following the Wednesdays @ Garland community dinner from 7-8:30pm. This group tends to choose more Bible-based studies and especially enjoy praying for each other and bearing one another’s burdens.
Christ Kitchen is a job-training project providing work, instruction, discipleship, support, and fellowship for women living in poverty in the Spokane area. On a rotating basis, Garland women prepare lunch for Christ Kitchen’s Thursday Bible study. Women are invited to help prepare the lunch in advance and then join the team at Christ Kitchen to serve it and fellowship with those attending the Bible Study.
Garland has an active sewing group. All-day events that are scheduled several times a year could include a class to make a fun project or work parties to make quilts through the Quilts of Valor organization. See the Garland QOV Group Facebook Page for more information read about a QOV project in the The Spokesman Review.
