Ash Wednesday Service

Join us for dinner between 5:30-6:15pm in The HUB. You are welcome to bring your own dinner or purchase one of Mel’s delicious home-cooked meals at the Café. The suggested donation is $6 for Adults/Teens; $4 for Seniors & Kids under 12.

Our 40-Day Prayer Journey mirrors the season of Lent.  Many of us do not understand Lent, nor its Christian significance, so let me simply explain that it is an old practice going back to the early church where believers fast and pray in readiness for the celebration of Easter.  It begins with an Ash Wednesday worship gathering, designed to help us seek spiritual cleansing and to receive the Lord’s Table.  As a sign of repentance, you will be offered the opportunity to receive a cross written on your forehead in ashes, as a mark of your intent to remember that life is short-lived and to be somber for your sins that have been paid for by Christ.  Throughout the course of the 40 days, I also invite you to “fast” from something – start now to ask God what the Lord would like you to set aside for that time period, in the desire of releasing its grip in your life and sharpening your attention to the Lord.  Whatever you decide to fast from, keep it secret between you and God. Finally, during Holy Week, we will have a few Solemn Assembly gatherings to once again ready ourselves for Resurrection Day.

BOTH YOUTH GROUP AND KIDS CREW WILL JOIN THE ADULTS FOR THE ASH WEDNESDAY GATHERING. NURSERY AND PRESCHOOL ARE PROVIDED.
